Smack a Spice Girl
Hey, are you sick of those Spice Girls yet? After you figure out which
Spice Girl was styled to appeal to your marketing profile, the bloom is off
the rose and there's not much left to go with, until now. Go ahead, get
out your aggressions and
slap a Spice Girl. You
get to knock around both Emmas, baby Spice and Margaret Thatcher
(who declared herself a Spice Girl when she was photographed with them).
It's not as much fun as boxing Fabio, but it's another nice way to get your
agressions out on the Internet so you can be nicer to the people you really
love, like the SMUG staff.
And the Winner Is:
We're pleased to report that in our last issue exactly one person found the
secret URL mentioned in the source code of the feature. Hats off to
pud@pud.com, who apparently has no real name, but was the sole person to
find the secret URL. We shoulda given away a prize. As a matter of fact,
in the next SMUG we are starting a secret URL prize feature, but this will
likely be the only mention of it, so don't say we didn't warn you.
Here's how it works: We pick a groovy prize. We make a secret URL. The
first person to find it gets the prize. Plain, simple and effective. So -
you may need to read more closely for hints, but there will be payoff.
Also - if you guess the URL, we'll write your name on the SMUG "Wall of
fame" which is actually Leslie's bathroom wall, but who wouldn't love a
little shot at immortality like that?
Are You SMUG?
We're looking for writers. So, if you think you are up to the challenge of
writing for SMUG, just drop us a line and include links to your work. DO
NOT SEND US ANY ATTACHMENTS. Did you hear that? No attachments. Period.
But, if you send us URLs or a writing sample and a brief bio we'll see what
we can do for you, or - more specifically, what you can do for us. Here's
a list of the top ten things we're not looking for:
1. Poetry.
2. Fiction of any kind.
3. Anything about faeries, elves or Star Trek.
4. Plagiarism.
5. Multi-level marketing scams.
6. Inspirational stories about overcoming something that's already been a
movie of the week.
7. Alien abduction tales.
8. Stories with the verve and panache of a graduate thesis.
9. Essays about your cats.
10. Did we mention poetry?
Now that the guidelines have been set, if you're interested, please write
us, and please, pretty please put "I AM SMUG" in the subject line so we can
identify your queries.
